Project Description
Dakota Hotel, Manchester
Main Contractor: GMI Construction
Architect: KPP
Scope: Curtain Walling, Windows, Doors, Rainscreen Cladding, Structurally Bolted Glass Box
This complex and highly bespoke scheme involved CASU installing 75% of the scheme off site at a pre cast panel manufacture facility.
The project was specified with Curtain Walling forming all 3m x 2m bedroom windows, requiring a high degree of engineering to achieve the complete off-site install (full sealed ‘windows’ with cill pressings finished off site). Specialist brackets / dead load angles were created and all fire sealing, membranes, silicone pointing etc completed off site, then transported to site and installed as a finished panel via crane lift.
Every element of the scheme included bespoke operations or designs, including bespoke extruded mullion caps, a glass cigar terrace (consisting of a bolted glass roof and walls) and Rainscreen Cladding.
The project itself lies in the heart of the Piccadilly Basin and is part of the high profile redevelopment of the area. CASU were delighted to deliver this in partnership with GMI Construction.
